Originally from California, Darleen McFarlan moved with her family to Naperville, Illinois in 1982. Once she settled, Darleen's entrepreneurial spirit and love for design gave flight to her current business. By combining her art degree, sewing expertise and lifelong gift for design, Darleen began creating lavish custom quilts. One creation took first place at a craft show and the woman who bought it requested matching drapery. Once the bedding and window treatments were installed in the woman's home, her admiring friends fell in love with Darleen's décor. Soon word-of-mouth spread, keeping Darleen so busy she moved out of her basement and into an industrial site.
In 1990, Darleen's Interiors opened a retail site that featured vignettes of not only award-winning quilts, but window treatments, furniture, and coordinating accessories. The new store allowed space for a Design Room where Darleen and her staff could meet with clients and make presentations. Darleen's drapery workroom was also on-site, which became a tremendous advantage for her designers and clients.
In July 2003, Darleen's Interiors moved again, to its present location in Naperville. The new larger space accommodates both a retail showroom and manufacturing facility to produce custom window treatments and custom bedding. Featuring a spacious design room with a library of fabrics and trims, numerous vignettes filled with extraordinary furnishings and an in-home theatre room, the new space also offices a large on-site workroom and designated area for custom floral design. |
